Following a prolonged police investigation, dozens of people, including senior officials, were arrested on suspicion of corruption offenses at the Histadrut, Israel's General Federation of Labor.
Among those detained are Histadrut chairperson Arnon Bar-David and his wife, as well as heads of local authorities and senior business figures.
Hundreds of people are expected to be questioned in the affair. The arrested individuals will be brought before the Rishon LeZion Magistrates Court for a hearing on extending their detention.
The police raided 52 private homes, 12 government offices, 6 local authorities, and 5 corporations.
