Native plants are helping Louisiana grow stronger, from backyards to bayous. One family's restoration project showcases the importance of gardening for the future.
Three years ago, researchers Jillian Godshall and the author began exploring the environment in South Louisiana. Their first interview was with Matt Conn, owner of an environmental consulting company, who restored 67 acres of land into a nature lover's paradise.
Since then, Jillian and the author collaborated on the film Louisiana Grass Roots and the podcast No Matter the Water. The podcast's Episode 4, "De Sha," features a homeowner gardening with native plants.
