Man Jailed for Christmas Eve Knifepoint Robbery in Stroud

A 19-year-old man, Adam Downey, has been sentenced to two years and four months in prison for a knifepoint robbery in Stroud on Christmas Eve 2023.

Downey, of Winnycroft Lane, Matson, pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court on October 10.

The incident occurred at around 2am on December 24, 2023, when the offender grabbed a man from behind, pulled him to the floor, and dragged him into undergrowth near Cainscross Road in Stroud.

The offender then threatened the man with a knife and demanded he hand over his personal property.

The victim had been out with friends earlier that evening.
