US Passport Support in Apple Wallet
US passport support in Apple Wallet is a significant step forward.
At WWDC25, it was announced that US passport support would be coming to Apple Wallet, but it has not yet arrived in iOS 26.
However, Apple's VP of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, Jennifer Bailey, confirmed that it is still on the way, with an expected release by the end of the year.
How it Works
The digital passport will work similarly to making an Apple Pay transaction, where you tap your iPhone to a reader and your passport information is transmitted via NFC.
Limitations
It's essential to note that the digital passport will not be usable for international travel, and a physical passport will still be required.
You'll be invited to tap your iPhone to a reader and your digital passport information will be transmitted by NFC.
