OpenAI Restructures, Nonprofit Foundation Retains Control
The nonprofit OpenAI Foundation now controls a $130 billion for-profit arm after a recapitalization process approved by attorneys general in California.

The nonprofit OpenAI Foundation will ensure artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity while maintaining control and oversight of the OpenAI Group public benefit corporation.
The Foundation retains the right to appoint and remove board members of the OpenAI Group and enforce decisions on AI safety and security matters, OpenAI said.
