Election Day in New York: What's Open and Closed
Election Day is a state holiday in New York, resulting in the closure of state and local government buildings.
Despite the holiday, the Long Island Rail Road and mass transit will operate on a normal schedule.
Government Offices and Buildings
State and local government offices, including courts, will be closed on Election Day.
The Time Off to Vote Notice, or New York State Election Law Section 3-110, allows employees to take up to two hours off without loss of pay to vote if they do not have time to attend the polls between their shift start and end times.
