Valley Stream Woman Charged with Welfare Fraud

A Valley Stream woman, Latoya Cummings, 30, has been charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud, and offering a false instrument for filing.

According to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly, Cummings allegedly lied about her household composition, income, and assets, resulting in the wrongful receipt of over $50,000 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Cummings pleaded not guilty and faces a sentence of up to 5 to 15 years in prison if convicted.
