Movable Bike Barrier on Richmond Bridge
A compromise has been reached regarding the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge bike lane, which has been a subject of controversy.
The lane, protected by a movable barrier, will be opened for emergencies on weekdays, but not on weekends.
Rollie Katz, general manager of the Marin Association of Public Employees, says many of his members who live in the East Bay say their commute to local jobs is taking longer.
The moveable barrier has been blocking off the far-right westbound lane for nearly six years, reserved for bicyclists and hikers, causing minutes-killing backups for motorists.
