GitHub Opens Up to Multiple Third Party Agents

On the opening day of GitHub Universe 2025, GitHub announced Agent HQ, its vision for the future of the platform.

“AI isn’t just a tool anymore; it’s an integral part of the development experience,”

GitHub’s Kyle Daigle writes.

“Our responsibility is to ensure this new era of collaboration is powerful, secure, and seamlessly integrated into the workflow you already trust.”

To that end, Agent HQ is how GitHub is making AI agents native to the platform rather than something bolted on. It’s an open ecosystem through which any AI agent can integrate.

Coding agents from these and other AI companies will become available soon, GitHub says, as part of a paid GitHub Copilot subscription. And Agent HQ will work with GitHub primitives like Git, pull requests, and issues.
