BU Professor Aims to Destigmatize Sexual Health

A Boston University professor of epidemiology, Julia Bond, has been awarded a $1.25M NIH grant to research sexual health.

About 20 years ago, Bond attended a peer health education group meeting at Bowdoin College, where she noticed that discussions about sexual health programming often ignored the topic of pleasure.

“It was a really interesting disconnect where the public health focus was on [topics] that were important but that were not necessarily the primary concern for at least from what I was seeing,”
“So I kind of went rogue.”

The National Institutes of Health has awarded Bond the Director’s Early Independence Award to study the relationship between sexual function and conception.
