A Richmond nonprofit, formerly known as United Methodist Family Services (UMFS), has undergone a rebrand, changing its name to Shineforth as it celebrates its 125th anniversary.
“We really believe there’s an inner light in every child, and it’s just waiting to come out, and sometimes it’s been dimmed,” said Shineforth President and CEO Nancy Toscano.
Shineforth serves children through various services, including foster care, residential treatment, adoption services, and special education. The organization is headquartered at its 33-acre campus and has seven other locations throughout the state.
Shineforth is the fifth name for the organization, marking a shift away from its Methodist Christian roots.
