Sharks Locker Room: Celebrini Going From Rookie to Superstar?
The San Jose Sharks were on the verge of blowing a third-period lead, but Macklin Celebrini saved the day with a 6-5 OT victory.
Despite the win, the Sharks are still struggling to play winning hockey, often shooting themselves in the foot. In the first period, they were up 2-0 and dominating, but a high-sticking penalty by Vincent Iorio led to a power play goal by Marcus Johansson.
- An unforced error on a Tyler Toffoli-Vincent Desharnais puck exchange resulted in a 2-on-1 Marco Rossi strike, just 32 seconds later.
“That was our own doing,” said San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky. “That’s one big lesson.”
The same pattern repeated itself in the third period, but the Sharks managed to regain their lead.
