Cele says crime shot up during Riah Phiyega tenure

Crime Increase During Riah Phiyega's Tenure

Former police minister Bheki Cele states that crime increased in South Africa following a series of removals of SAPS leadership when Riah Phiyega took over as national commissioner in 2012.

Cele mentions that one of the removed officials is the current KZN police chief, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who was removed from his role as Acting Police Commissioner in 2012.

said Cele. Author's summary: Bheki Cele links crime increase to Phiyega's tenure.
