Algerian Woman Receives Maximum Punishment for Heinous Crime in France
A French court has sentenced Algerian Dahbia Benkreid to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for raping, torturing, and killing 12-year-old Lola Daviet.
Benkreid, 27, is the first woman in France to receive the maximum possible punishment under French criminal law. The jury deliberated for four hours, concluding that the crime was characterized by "extreme cruelty" and "actual torture."
The crime is considered one of the "most heinous crimes" in France.
