The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued guidance on the 'winter vomiting' bug, also known as norovirus, which causes vomiting and diarrhoea.
According to the UKHSA, norovirus is a highly transmissible stomach bug that can easily spread through communities, particularly in environments with close contact such as hospitals, care homes, schools, and nurseries.
While the current levels of the bug are not as high as in 2024, they are increasing, prompting the UKHSA to advise those infected to stay at home to prevent spreading it.
The virus infects the stomach and intestines, and is also known as a gastrointestinal virus.
The UKHSA's guidance aims to prevent outbreaks and reduce the spread of the virus.
