The European Union has adopted new rules to make it more difficult for drivers who committed serious traffic offenses in another EU country to dodge a driving ban.
The new rules, approved by the European Parliament, aim to ensure that driving disqualifications are recognized across all 27 member states.
It will save lives
Currently, a driving license can only be withdrawn if the infraction was committed in the member state that issued it, resulting in about 40% of offenses committed in other EU countries remaining unpunished.
