Childcare Options in the Chilkat Valley
A childcare working group met to discuss the state of childcare in Haines and efforts to improve access.
The meeting, chaired by Haines Mayor Tom Morphet, featured a roundtable of local business owners and stakeholders.
“Our preschool is struggling,” said Morphet. “We’re down to one residential daycare.”
The goal is to identify challenges and seek a path forward to increase daycare and preschool availability in the area.
Key participants included representatives from Chilkat Valley Preschool and the Chilkoot Indian Association.
