The UK's state-of-the-art polar research vessel, RRS Sir David Attenborough, is heading to Antarctica to support climate change science projects.
Operated by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), the ship will aid research on various topics, including glacier melt, whale populations, and "hunting underwater tsunamis".
"The saying goes 'what happens in Antarctica doesn't stay in Antarctica',"
BAS oceanographer Peter Davis expressed regret over the US withdrawing from scientific exploration in the region, calling it "a shame".
