Daily Joke: A Man's Experience in the Monastery of Silence
A man entered the Monastery of Silence, seeking a peaceful life.
Upon arrival, the Chief Priest informed him:
"This is a silent monastery, you are welcome here as long as you like, but you may not speak until I direct you to do so."
Brother John lived in the monastery for a year before the Chief Priest allowed him to speak two words. He said:
"Hard Bed."The Chief Priest apologized and promised a better bed.
The following year, Brother John was again allowed to speak two words, saying:
"Cold Food."The Chief Priest assured him the food would improve.
On his third anniversary, the Chief Priest permitted Brother John to speak two words once more. However, instead of speaking, the Chief Priest said:
"It is probably best,"and criticized Brother John for complaining throughout his stay.
