Shanghai Masters: Cousins Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Rinderknech
The 2025 Shanghai Masters was a family affair, with cousins Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Rinderknech meeting in the final. Vacherot won the title, his maiden ATP Tour level trophy, defeating Rinderknech 4–6, 6–3, 6–3.
Notably, Vacherot defeated 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the semi-final, and also beat 14th seed Alexander Bublik and 10th Holger Rune. He became the first man from Monaco to reach the quarter-final of an ATP Masters 1000 event and the first Monagasque to win a top-level title.
His Shanghai fairytale run ended with the trophy.
Vacherot started the tournament 150 places below Rinderknech in the ATP Rankings, making his victory an impressive upset.
