Local Golfers Conclude Play at 2025 State Tournament
University's Estel finishes T-8.
The 2025 WVSSAC state golf tournament has crowned its first state champions, with Hurricane (AAAA), Shady Spring (AAA), Midland Trail (AA), and Charleston Catholic (A) taking home team titles.

Individually, UHS senior Owen Estel tied for eighth, shooting 15-over par through two rounds. Estel shot 12-over (83) in Round 1 and 3-over (74) in Round 2, which tied for the second-lowest score in Round 2.
Other notable finishes include UHS sophomore Will Biddington, who finished in a tie for 16th, and MHS sophomore Angela Yao, who led her team with a tie for 19th.
