Knicks' New Point Guard Retires Unexpectedly
The New York Knicks' plans for veteran depth have taken an unexpected turn with the retirement of veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Brogdon informed the team of his decision to retire from basketball as they were finalizing their regular-season roster.
The decision comes as a surprise for a franchise that saw Brogdon as a stabilizing presence off the bench.
Brogdon, 32, was brought in to provide leadership and experience, particularly as a backup point guard behind Jalen Brunson. Despite being limited to 24 games last season with the Washington Wizards due to injuries, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per contest.
