Isaiah Hugley Announces Candidacy for Mayor
Hundreds gathered to support former Columbus City Manager Isaiah Hugley as he officially announced his candidacy for mayor.
Hugley made his announcement nearly five months after being terminated from his position by the city council. He declared his focus on unity and community needs if elected as Columbus’ next mayor.
“With great humility, and unwavering hope, I officially declare my candidacy to be the next mayor of Columbus Georgia,”
Hugley said during his campaign launch. The Columbus City Council voted 7-3 to terminate Hugley from his city manager position on May 27, citing ongoing issues and a lack of leadership.
“There is more to come, you haven’t seen the last of me.”
Hugley told supporters at the time of his firing.
