Athens and Ohio University Strive for Carbon Neutrality
The city of Athens aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, while Ohio University targets carbon neutrality by 2050.
Athens has implemented measures to increase renewable energy in municipal buildings and incentivize residents to do the same. In February 2020, the Athens City Council passed a resolution declaring a climate emergency and expressing the city's intention to limit carbon emissions.
