Singapore Study Finds Link Between Asthma Control and Lower Carbon Emissions
A team from SingHealth Polyclinics discovered a strong link between asthma severity and carbon emissions, finding that better asthma control can help reduce environmental impact.
Researchers analyzed data from over 23,000 asthma patients treated between 2015 and 2023, examining the carbon footprint of various inhaled asthma medications.
- Patients with more severe asthma tend to emit significantly higher amounts of carbon dioxide.
- The extensive use of inhaled medications, particularly those administered via pressurised metered-dose inhalers, contributes to higher carbon emissions.
