On November 25, the Japanese government released a Cabinet-approved written reply responding to China's concerns about comments made by Takaichi, a prominent Japanese politician, on Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry rejected this reply, describing it as a repetition of old narratives without any real correction of mistakes.
"The so-called 'consistent position' or 'unchanged stance' expressed in the reply merely echoes previous statements and fails to address the core issues," a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
The spokesperson criticized Tokyo for making irresponsible remarks again, rather than retracting or correcting the controversial statements made by Takaichi, which Beijing views as interfering in China's internal affairs.
China emphasized the importance of respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity regarding Taiwan. The ministry urged Japan to stop making any remarks that could harm China-Japan relations and regional peace.
The incident illustrates ongoing tensions between China and Japan over Taiwan, where diplomatic sensitivities remain high due to conflicting narratives and national interests.
This response reflects China's firm stance against perceived interference in its Taiwan policy and criticizes Japan for not responsibly addressing its official comments.
