When I first stepped foot into the Big Brother AU house at Dreamworld, I was overwhelmed by a wave of awe. The colors, the lights, the atmosphere – it all felt dramatic yet inviting and fun. Being inside was a rush of excitement, similar to the thrill of tasting a new favourite food you can’t stop craving.

As New Idea's Entertainment Writer, I was fortunate to fly from Sydney to the Gold Coast to be among the first to see the Big Brother house ahead of the contestants’ arrival.

During the 2026 Upfront event on a warm spring evening, guests were greeted by show host Mel Tracina, who hinted at an exciting season ahead. Shortly afterwards, we were allowed to roam freely through the house, which was hard to believe.

What surprised me most was the sheer size of the house. It features one main lounging area alongside several smaller hangout spaces, a massive kitchen with a huge pantry, a spacious outdoor area, a bedroom, a bathroom, and of course, the diary room.

Outside, there’s a gym for workouts, outdoor showers, two lounge areas for relaxing, a swimming pool, and a large outdoor dining table with enough seats for everyone.

As Mel Tracina teased, "An exciting season is upon us."
