Today was meant to mark the release of Avengers: Secret Wars, a major installment expected to take the franchise in a groundbreaking new direction. However, we are still more than two years away from its premiere, now scheduled for December 17, 2027, instead of the original November 7, 2025 date.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios revealed an ambitious slate for the coming years. Highlights included footage from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced two new Avengers films, both planned for release in 2025:

Since that announcement, significant changes have occurred. Marvel ended its collaboration with Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang the Conqueror. This development forced Marvel to considerably alter the existing storyline, contributing to the delay of Secret Wars.
Although originally announced for release today, Avengers: Secret Wars remains in production with a new release date set for late 2027, keeping fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the Avengers saga.
"The biggest was that Marvel severed ties with Kang himself, played by Jonathan Majors. That forced a total shift in where that current storyline was going."
The highly anticipated Avengers movie, originally set for 2025, has been delayed to 2027 due to major storyline changes following Marvel's split with actor Jonathan Majors.
