Robbie Williams takes a nostalgic step back to 1995 with the release of his new video for the song “Human,” featuring Jesse and Joy. The visual and musical style effectively channel the spirit of that era.
“I set out to create the album that I wanted to write and release after I left Take That in 1995. It was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British Music. I’ve worked with some of my heroes on this album; it’s raw, there are more guitars and it’s an album that’s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual. There’s some ‘Brit’ in there and there’s certainly some ‘pop’ too – I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I’m excited for fans to hear this album.”
The album includes tracks like “It’s OK Until The Drugs Stop Working” and “Pocket Rocket,” showcasing a blend of raw energy and catchy melodies.
This musical project follows the 2024 film Better Man, a quirky biopic about Robbie Williams and his playful personality. Directed by Michael Gracey, known for The Greatest Showman, the film received critical acclaim with an 89% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie’s innovative style presents Williams as a chimpanzee, portrayed by actor Jonno Davies using advanced special effects, offering a fresh and unconventional twist on the traditional biopic format.
Robbie Williams successfully recaptures the Britpop era’s essence in his new album and video, complementing his acclaimed, inventive biopic that highlights his unique character.
