James Overy has reached a proud milestone, receiving his first senior international call-up to represent Australia in the November international fixtures.
The past month has been thrilling for the 17-year-old full-back from Manchester United’s Academy. After competing in Australia’s U20 World Cup campaign in Chile, Overy returned to train with Manchester United’s first team.
Overy has progressed quickly, moving from the youngest member of Australia’s U20 World Cup squad to being called up for the senior national team.
Australia manager Tony Popovic has indicated that Overy could make his senior debut in one of the two upcoming friendlies this November:
Overy, who has also represented Scotland at youth level, is among six uncapped players included among 11 changes in Australia’s squad, reflecting Popovic’s focus on the future of Australian football.
"Tony Popovic has opened the door for the United youngster to make his senior debut in one of the two upcoming friendly matches later this month."
James Overy’s rapid rise from youth talent to senior international call-up highlights his growing reputation and promising future in professional football.
