Republicans in the Senate rejected a Democrat-led proposal that would have required President Trump to obtain congressional approval before using the military to destroy suspected drug boats.
President Donald Trump and the Pentagon intend to continue using military strikes to destroy suspected drug boats in the Caribbean.
"We are taking the fight out to the seas where it needs to be,"
said Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, to The Center Square, highlighting the severity of the issue with hundreds of thousands of people being affected by illegal drugs.
