Advanced weather maps are revealing what early winter may bring to the UK regarding snowfall. Net Weather's modeling maps provide predictions of the UK’s snow risk several weeks in advance.
As temperatures begin to fall, many wonder when London might see snow, but it appears we will have to wait a while longer. The highest snow risk near London is expected around November 16 and 17, particularly in areas of the Midlands and Norfolk, where the chance exceeds 30%.
Due to predicted wet conditions, snow is unlikely to settle in November, although light flurries could occur if temperatures drop further.
“Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are highly uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost,” the Met Office predicts.
The Met Office does not forecast snow until late November or early December at the earliest.
Recent weather events, such as Storm Benjamin causing disruption in London, highlight the volatile conditions this season.
While early signs suggest limited and light snowfall near London in mid-November, significant snow is more likely in northern Scotland, with settled snow in southern England expected only from late November or December.
