On 3 November 2025, as worldwide challenges intensify, governments, civil society, and international partners gathered in Doha to focus on practical solutions for advancing social development and addressing urgent crises. These issues include rising hunger, poverty, inequality, and climate-related instability.
The discussions occurred at the Doha Solutions Forum for Social Development and the inaugural leaders’ meeting of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. Both events were held alongside the Second World Summit for Social Development.
President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock emphasized, “Too often we face situations where we have no clear solution, no answer to the suffering we see, and it is heartbreaking.”
She added, “Or we have the solution [but] we are either unable or unwilling to do what needs to be done, which is frustrating.”
Opening the forum, Baerbock highlighted a deliberate move away from merely recognizing problems toward implementing proven solutions.
“Today is different: we are here to avoid falling into those traps, to learn from each other; to benefit from good ideas; to join forces; and to live up to our common principles,” she said.
The forum represents a collective commitment to move beyond empty promises and toward meaningful action that tackles pressing global challenges.
The Doha forum champions practical cooperation and proven solutions to tackle urgent global crises, moving humanity from awareness to concrete change.
