Anthony Hopkins Writes Heartfelt Apology to Estranged Daughter Abigail In New Memoir

In his memoir We Did It, Kid, Anthony Hopkins extends a deeply personal message to his estranged daughter, Abigail Hopkins, expressing a desire for reconciliation after years apart.

The 87-year-old Academy Award-winning actor shares the emotional plea in the pages of his book, following a recent New York Times interview where he confirmed an earlier attempt at reconnecting had been ignored. Hopkins, who shares Abigail with his first wife, Petronella Barker, from whom he separated in 1972, revealed that an invitation to reconnect, sent by his current wife Stella Arroyave, went unanswered.

"My wife, Stella, sent an invitation [to Abigail] to come and see us," Hopkins said in an interview published on October 25. "I wish her well, but I'm not going to waste blood over that. If you want to waste your life being in resentment, fine, go ahead."

In a hopeful message directly addressed to Abigail in the memoir released on November 4, Hopkins wrote:

"I hope my daughter knows that my door is always open to her. I want her to be well and happy."
