Suicide Prevention Awareness through License Plates
A Virginia mother, Jacqui Herron, and a group of supporters are working to raise awareness about suicide prevention through custom Virginia license plates.
It’s basically just to honor each and every person we have lost to suicide and get people just thinking and talking about the awareness and prevention.
Herron founded the Matthew Matters group in honor of her son, who lost his life to suicide, with the goal of breaking down stigma and encouraging conversations about mental health.
- The group needs 450 people to apply for the personalized plates to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- After two years, they are about halfway to reaching their goal.
