This week’s highlight features Typhoon Kalmaegi, located in the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines as of 3 November 2025. The typhoon currently has maximum sustained winds of 90 knots (166 km/h) and is moving westward at 14 knots (26 km/h).
Forecasts predict Kalmaegi will cross the Philippines, bringing severe winds, heavy rainfall, and the threat of storm surges and flooding. In response, thousands of coastal residents have been evacuated to mitigate the risk of dangerous surges.
