First Alert Weather Day: Snow Expected Across Southcentral Thursday
Today's Alaska weather forecast comes from Alaska's Weather Source. The Weather Team has issued a First Alert Weather Day for Thursday as snow is expected to move through Southcentral Alaska.
Snowfall Forecast and Timing
Models indicate that the system is developing as an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska draws moisture northward. This will bring wet conditions to Southeast Alaska and trigger a round of early November snow across Southcentral.
Snow is forecast to begin around midday Thursday and continue through the evening. Accumulations will be heavier at higher elevations and near some coastal zones.
- Anchorage: 1 to 4 inches of snow expected
- Hillside locations: up to 6 inches possible
- Coastal areas: temperatures may climb above freezing, causing a transition to rain

The system should taper off by Friday morning as conditions begin to improve across the region.
