UC Berkeley Conservative Students Host TPUSA Event

Conservative students at UC Berkeley, known for its liberal reputation, are moving forward with a Turning Point USA event. The event was originally set to be headlined by founder Charlie Kirk, who was tragically assassinated.

Event Details and Replacements

Comedian and filmmaker Rob Schneider, along with Christian author Frank Turek, will appear in place of Kirk at the event.

Background and Security Measures

“The day of our first meeting where we were going to announce that Charlie was coming to campus was the day that he was assassinated,” said John Paul Leon, a junior at UC Berkeley and president of the campus Turning Point USA chapter, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Leon has been coordinating with the university and national Turning Point organization to organize the event scheduled for November 10 — two months after Kirk’s assassination on September 10 at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.”

Though specific security details remain confidential, Leon stated the event will enforce a no-bag policy and implement strict safety precautions for attendees and speakers.

“Internally, we’re spending lots of time to ensure that security is really tight and really secure and having our own meetings just completely dedicated to security themselves,” Leon added.

Campus Atmosphere and Dedication

Since the assassination, the campus atmosphere has been described as somber. However, students remain committed to honoring Kirk’s legacy by continuing the event.

“Since then, I’ve been working on it with the university and with the Turning Point national organization just to get the event going,” Leon said.

Author’s summary: Despite Charlie Kirk's assassination, UC Berkeley’s conservative students are determined to hold their Turning Point USA event with enhanced security and guest replacements, honoring his memory.
