‘Morne has helped me a lot’: Shivam Dube on Morkel’s Role in His Bowling Improvement
Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube played a key role in India’s 48-run victory over Australia in the fourth T20I at Carrara Oval, Gold Coast. Although he conceded 20 runs in his two overs, Dube struck crucial blows by dismissing Australia captain Mitchell Marsh and power-hitter Tim David — both capable of turning the match around after the visitors were limited to 167/8.
Dube explained after the match that captain Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and bowling coach Morne Morkel had built an effective bowling strategy for him to follow.
“When I got the chance, I knew I had to bowl. Especially Morne, Gauti bhai, and Surya prepared a good plan for me. He gave some small, small tips which made my bowling better,”
he told reporters after the match, crediting Morkel’s practical advice. The South African great, who played 18 international matches in Australia, shared insights that Dube said helped him adapt better to local conditions.
