Former Miss USA Noelia Voigt has voiced strong support for Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch following a disrespectful incident involving a Miss Universe executive. Voigt, 26, backed the contestants who walked out after feeling mistreated by the executive Nawat Itsaragrisil.
During a recent event, Itsaragrisil referred to Bosch, 25, as a "dumb head," a phrase implying foolishness or emptiness. He told her, "You must listen to me first, then argue with me."
“When I woke up yesterday morning and saw the video circulating across the internet showing what happened, I was shocked, disgusted, disappointed and genuinely horrified.”
Itsaragrisil later apologized, explaining, “I am human sometimes” and did not intend to harm anyone. He acknowledged the pressure he faces and said, “By the way, I have not intend[ed] to hurt anyone.”
Voigt related to the situation due to her own struggles, having resigned from her Miss USA title in May 2024 to focus on her mental health. She emphasized the pain of having one's voice dismissed and dignity undermined.
“As someone who served as Miss USA 2023 and later made the decision to step away from my title, I understand what it feels like when your voice is dismissed and your dignity is demeaned.”
Noelia Voigt publicly supports Miss Mexico and others who stood up against disrespect within the Miss Universe organization, highlighting the importance of dignity and respect in pageantry.
