Capgemini has launched a groundbreaking project in collaboration with Orano, a company specializing in nuclear material recovery. They introduced the first intelligent humanoid robot deployed in the nuclear industry, marking a significant advancement in physical AI and industrial robotics.
The robot, named Hoxo, is currently being tested at Orano Melox Ecole des Métiers in the Gard region of France. It will go through a four-month pilot phase designed to evaluate its mobility, precision, and AI-powered responsiveness in real operational settings.
"This project embodies the convergence of robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision and digital twins," said Pascal Brier, chief innovation officer at Capgemini. "It redefines human–machine interaction in sensitive environments and pushes the boundaries of industrial automation."
If the pilot is successful, the collaboration could transform automated operations in high-risk industrial environments, offering new solutions where human presence is restricted or dangerous.
