Mamdani Wins NYC Mayoral Race
Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani has officially won the New York City mayoral race, defeating Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.
Mamdani celebrated his victory by posting an 11-minute video clip on X, showing the inside of a subway train, with a voice saying
"The last stop is City Hall".
- The Associated Press called the race 30 minutes after polls closed at 9 p.m.
- The NYC Board of Elections announced over 2 million people voted, the highest turnout since 1969.
With this victory, Mamdani will become the city's first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian heritage, and the first born in Africa.
