Smashburger Closes After 15 Years on 16th Street Mall
Smashburger, a Denver-based burger chain, has closed its sole downtown location on the 16th Street Mall after 15 years of operation.
The chain, founded in 2007, has 200 locations across North America, including 22 in Colorado. Despite the closure, the company recently appointed a new CEO over the summer.
- The closed location was at 1201 16th St. on the ground floor of the Tabor Center.
- Another Smashburger location at 200 Quebec St. in Lowry closed in May due to sewer odor complaints.
- Other closures in the area include Mellow Mushroom and Panera, although Mendocino Farms will fill part of the latter's space.
No comment was provided by Smashburger regarding the closure.
