Design Team to Begin Work on LUH Surgical Hub in January 2026
Plans for the new surgical hub at Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) will soon move into the design phase, with the HSE aiming to have a team appointed and commencing work in January 2026.
Work is underway to finalise the design brief, including the schedule of accommodation for the new buildings and upgrades on campus. Once complete, a tendering process will be undertaken to establish a major design team procurement framework for the HSE West and Northwest region.
An update on the developments was shared this week with Donegal Fianna Fáil Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher. The HSE says its infrastructure strategy is specifically designed to deliver vastly improved urgent and emergency care, surgical, cancer, and women and children’s services for the people of Donegal and the wider northwest.
