A potent coastal storm is expected to hit the Philadelphia region, bringing heavy rains and gusts of up to 60 mph.

New Jersey has declared a state of emergency, effective 11 p.m. Saturday, which will continue into Monday. In Philly, heavy rains and gusts of up to 40 mph are expected.

“It’s going to be bad,” said Paul Fitzsimmons, a lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service Office in Mount Holly. “It’s going to be a nasty, stormy ‘nor’easter’ ... lasting right into Monday.”

The National Weather Service has issued several advisories and watches, including the potential for "major" flooding along the Jersey coast.
