Historic Robert Parker Coffin Bridge Hit by Trailer
The Robert Parker Coffin Bridge in Long Grove has been hit by a large oversized trailer, marking at least the 69th time the bridge has been struck.
The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday and was partially caught on surveillance video by Neumann’s Cigars and More.
- The video showed the aftermath of the hit, involving a white pickup truck pulling a large trailer.
- The trailer scraped the bridge canopy, and the driver stopped the vehicle and got out after the incident.
Previous incidents include a box truck’s roof striking the bridge canopy in June and another incident on May 20 involving a box truck belonging to Northwest Trucks Inc.
No comment from authorities or the driver was available.
