Denmark-based energy transition technology provider Topsoe has launched a solid oxide electrolyser cell manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 500MW.
The new site, located in Herning, Denmark, is the company's single biggest investment to date, supported by €94m from the EU Innovation Fund.
The electrolyser stacks will produce green hydrogen, used to make ammonia and e-methanol, reducing emissions across industrial sectors.
Our SOEC facility will be a game-change for the energy transition, said Roeland Baan, CEO of Topsoe.
After ten years, the facility will service up to 10GW of installed capacity, cutting CO2 emissions by 15 million metric tonnes compared to hydrogen from natural gas.
