Man United reportedly had a £50 million bid for Antoine Semenyo turned down by Bournemouth this summer as they searched for potential alternatives to Bryan Mbeumo.
United were reluctant to pay Brentford’s asking price for Mbeumo, 26, but ultimately struck a deal worth a reported £70 million, including add-ons.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Ruben Amorim’s side had identified Bournemouth ace Semenyo as a potential alternative should they fail to get the Mbeumo deal over the line.
The report adds that United had a £50 million offer turned down by the Cherries, with Tottenham also keen on signing over the summer.
Mbeumo has since established himself as a key player for United, while Semenyo has nine goal involvements across his nine league games so far this season.
