Incident at Philly's Coast Guard Headquarters
A police officer was injured after a man drove through the security barrier at the Philadelphia Coast Guard headquarters.
The incident occurred on Saturday around 7 p.m. when the man, driving a white sedan, breached the facility barrier at 1 Washington Ave. He then disabled multiple surveillance cameras and communication devices.
As the Philadelphia Police Marine Unit and Coast Guard personnel responded, the trespasser struck a police officer in the face with a surveillance camera, causing minor injuries. A brief struggle ensued before the man was subdued.
Authorities suspect that the man may have been under the influence of drugs and transported him to a hospital for evaluation.
