Diagnosis and Proposal

Dan Godley, 30, was diagnosed with stage three pancreatic cancer at 28 years old. He had visited the doctor due to tightness in his abdomen.

Just two weeks after receiving the diagnosis, Dan began Folfirinox chemotherapy. However, scans revealed that the tumor was wrapped around a major artery.

I had a call telling me to go to hospital and I knew it was something bad. I was already stressed and then I got the diagnosis. It's difficult to put into words what it was like.

Dan proposed to his partner Anna, 30, in hospital, just seconds after hearing his prognosis. He was told he had 18 months to live.

Dan is now cancer-free following a rare, pioneering surgery. Author's summary: Man proposes after cancer diagnosis.
